Pentecost is well-nigh upon us. So it’s time for a Pentecost playlist.

A big thanks, as always, to everyone who contributed selections for this liturgical season mix. I’m really enjoying the tradition, and I’m grateful that it’s something people seem to be on the lookout for now.

A few notes:

  • I was delighted to discover this charming music video featuring Ben Folds Five and THE FRAGGLES:

  • Even more delightful is this viral video of little Tallulah singing “Serpentine Fire.” Listen for the “uh” about nine seconds in; this kid is feeling the funk. Endless thanks to her aunt, musician Ana Hernández, for sending me the video.

This is pretty much EVERY TIME we get in the car.

Tallulah requests her favorite song (by Earth, Wind & Fire 🌍💨🔥) and does this…

Want more liturgically themed playlists? Here’s Epiphany, Lent, and Easter. I find they’re good for targeting a certain moods, whatever the season. For example, the Easter playlist is great for running, I’ve learned.

* I usually keep Amazon Affiliate links out of the first two sections of the post, but it seemed needless long to repeat the list below. Thanks, as always, for supporting the site.

O God, who on this day taught the hearts of your faithful people by sending to them the light of your Holy Spirit: Grant us by the same Spirit to have a right judgment in all things, and evermore to rejoice in her holy comfort; through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord, who lives and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

Collect for Ordinations, etc. (BCP, Public Domain)

O God of unchangeable power and eternal light: Look favorably on your whole Church, that wonderful and sacred mystery; by the effectual working of your providence, carry out in tranquillity the plan of salvation; let the whole world see and know that things which were cast down are being raised up, and things which had grown old are being made new, and that all things are being brought to their perfection by him through whom all things were made, your Son Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
